He Ain’t Moody, he’s just… Grumpy
I enjoy blogging. I really do. I just don’t enjoy trying to find the time to blog… *sigh*
Earlier this year (2025, in case this is being read some time in the future, and there’s no date stamp for whatever reason) I wrote a children’s story about a book… that doesn’t want you to read it. It’s a pretty miserable book. In fact, it’s a very, very miserable book. Maybe it’s even too miserable for children… I hope not!! But I’ve written and published it anyway! It’s called “I Am Not A Grumpy Book”. When I caught the idea from the ether - well, that’s how it felt when I first thought of it - it was too irresistible to ignore. I had to scribble it out on paper. I had to type it out on my laptop. There was no way I wasn’t going to share it with the world. So, finally, it’s no longer just another story languishing in a folder on my laptop. It’s published and it’s out there - the second release from my I Am Not audio picture book series.
I feel really lucky to have worked with such dedicated and talented professionals to bring “Grumpy Book” together.
When I was writing the story, I knew I wanted a narrator with a male voice and who could pull off a detached, or, unbothered, and yet gruff tone. I did a whole lot of searching and eventually came across the profile and voice over audio samples of a voice actor called Gerry O’Brien.
Imagine my surprise when I read up further on his work, only to find that he had acted in Game of Thrones. As in theee Game of Thrones. Yes, crazy I know!
Anywho, Gerry did a brilliant job with the narration, and I am so happy with the overall result in terms of how the Grumpy Book audiobook has turned out.
In general, I’m excited about my I Am Not audio picture book series- you may have heard me say that before and it’s because, well… I actually am!
One final thing… have you seen the croissant with whole grain (ie a healthier and yet still tasty croissant!) that I can’t stop going on about on my social media channels?!?…
If not, have a look. We may need to start a joint petition to get these made widely available in the UK!
Until then, have a good day and see you on my blog again soon.
Dee.😊
